ForeverProject Day 2022

The Highlands is committed to sustainability, and we're working hard to reduce our environmental impact at every level of resort operations. Our efforts are in coordination with ForeverProject, Boyne Resorts' goal of reducing carbon emissions to net zero by 2030. Across Boyne Resorts, we are celebrating ForeverDay with mini sustainable projects to enhance sustainability and recycling efforts.

From trash clean-up to planting native Michigan wildflowers, The Highlands Team embodied ForeverDay!

The Lodging Team

The lodging team worked tirelessly to clean up debris from the main road. In keeping with our sustainability principles, what could be recycled was taken to the Emmet County Recycling Center.

Marketing/Daycare

The marketing team created seed pods with native Michigan wildflowers to support pollinators and our endangered Monarch Butterfly population seen all over The Highlands. Our team member daycare had a blast tossing the seed pods in our woodland area and using the importance of pollinators to learn more about the environment.

Skier Services

The skier services team planted Michigan native Blacked Eyed Susans on our slopes. Native plant root systems help keep our slopes in tip-top shape from rain washout- so come winter, the skiing experience is perfect.

Bookkeeping

The bookkeeping team placed bee houses throughout our garden areas to help maintain the bee population. These will assist in supporting the rich diversity of fauna that calls The Highlands home.

The Green Team

The Highlands sustainability team, made up of team members of all departments, created a video series called 'Sustainability Shorts' detailing quick tips on how to recycle batteries, lightbulbs, and more! These will be used to further our ForeverProject goals on a resort level.
