Boyne Highlands is proud to host our 6th annual Pink Weekend -- a weekend of community support for breast cancer awareness and detection benefiting the Kathleen Jontz Breast Health Fund, administered by the McLaren Northern Michigan Foundation. Join us for a weekend of fun, and take part in fundraising auctions and other festive, fun and informative activities.

It is estimated that each year, over 220,000 women in the United States are diagnosed with breast cancer and more than 40,000 will die as a result. As the most commonly diagnosed cancer in women and the second leading cause of death among women, breast cancer has most likely touched you or the life of someone close to you. Educating our community about early detection helps to save lives.

Last year's event, which was only in its fifth year, we donated $3,302. Our goal this year is to raise $5,000. While our fundraising goal is important, our larger objective is to raise awareness and draw support for the outstanding program that strives every day to improve the outlook those with breast cancer face - and to pave the way for a brighter future. **Below are the details for this year's Pink Weekend.

Show your support

  • When you mention the 'Pink Lift Ticket Option' when purchasing a lift ticket, you can donate a dollar to the cause and receive a pink ribbon sticker for your ticket or season pass.

Kathleen Jontz Breast Health Fund

Through the McLaren Northern Michigan Foundation, the fund provides financial assistance to breast health patients in northern Michigan for mammograms to women ages 40 - 64 years old who have no insurance or are underinsured and supports breast health educational programs in our community. In 2017, gifts to the Kathleen Jontz Breast Health Fund provided:

  • 11 patients with digital mammography screenings
  • 19 patients with gas cards to get to appointments, mastectomy bars, lymphedema arm sleeves or other comfort care needed.
  • 9,637 patients received mammograms with the comfort of Bella Blankets

For each of these women, donor generosity made it possible to receive the diagnostic testing and treatment they needed.
