Renate's Express

As summer is winding down, winter is calling; and The Highlands has started prepping the resort for the next ski season! With over 435 acres of skiable terrain, the prep work for winter begins early. Our mountain operations team is hard at work, and we have exciting news to share!

Announcing Renate's Express

Our Mountain Operations team is hard at work! The Wonder Carpet is one of the first introductions when teaching someone how to ski or ride. The carpet transports skiers and riders up the hill to gain the confidence of having your skis or snowboard on before riding a lift. The teachable moments continue as they learn to turn, glide, and maneuver their skis- guided by our SnowSports Academy instructors.

Who is Renate?

A beloved and recently retired SnowSports Academy instructor, Renate Schan, has been honored for her love and dedication on and off the slopes by renaming the Wonder Carpet Renate's Express. Renate started at The Highlands in December of 1987 and loved teaching children how to ski.

The Highlands was truly fortunate to have your shining smile and positive attitude. Thank you, Renate! We hope you never stop calling the Highlands home.

Renate's Express is 300 feet long and will be covered with a gallery to keep our guests protected from harsh weather. This is quite the improvement from the previously named Wonder Carpet, and we are excited about this update for the upcoming ski season!

Like our mountain operations team prepping for the winter season, guests can start planning their next ski adventure! Lift tickets, season passes, rentals and lessons are available now!
